Going Abroad!

August 19, 2019 I am officially less than one week out from heading to South Korea, so better late than never to start my blog before I leave! I’ll be using this platform to primarily keep all my friends and family updated on all my adventures in South Korea, the exciting things about Architecture I’ll be learning, and all the different types of food I’ll be trying! As per my family’s request, I’ll also be trying to post lots of photos. If you know me, you know that’s gonna be a challenge for me. I can’t wait to share all … Continue reading Going Abroad!

My Last Week!

So I’ve been putting off this last post for a week, mostly because the holidays have been crazy and I haven’t stopped going since I got home but also because it just doesn’t feel real that the journey is over. My last week in Korea was absolutely incredible. I finished my last week by watching the sunrise on the beach, having a Christmas party with my friends in studio, ice skating, and staying up watching “Nailed It” with my roommate till three in the morning. I shopped, I ate, and I visited some of my favorite places for the last … Continue reading My Last Week!

Week 16!

I’m really late on this update, so very sorry! Things have been pretty crazy with preparing for finals, wrapping up classes, and beginning to prepare for the trip back home. It’s been kind of a whirlwind week. Last week was spent mostly finishing classes with makeup times, working on studio, and procrastinating studying korean. The beginning of this last week has been good! I had a my korean language test Tuesday morning which totally wrecked me, but afterwards my roommate and I went and got tacos and ice cream to recover. My plans for the rest of this week include … Continue reading Week 16!

Week 15!

This past week was the last of my classes for the semester! Officially done (besides taking the final) with korean language! The korean government mandates that universities have a certain number of classes and so this next week is a makeup week for classes. This week my studio group is beginning to wrap up our semester project and make models for final presentation next week. It blows my mind that everything is wrapping up and ending soon. Two weeks till I leave Busan and Korea for a while. This weekend I went to Seoul again with a group of friends, … Continue reading Week 15!

Week 14!

We took a train to Busan, flew to Tokyo, managed the subways in Seoul, and are still confused why taxis don’t just put the address in the GPS to take you there. It’s been a full week full of surprises, lots of walking, and lots of fun. My sister came to surprise me in Korea and my mom also surprised me by getting stuck in Japan the first night. She spent the next day at the airport and I spent the next day in class while Hannah stayed at the Airbnb. Then we went to Tokyo too. We spent 24 … Continue reading Week 14!

Week 13!

This week has been a week full of celebration. My birthday was Wednesday and all week the friends I have made here in Busan made me feel celebrated and loved along with my friends and family back home. Before I left for South Korea, last spring, a guy at Market Street asked me if I was excited to be turning 21 this year. I told him not really since I’d be in a different country and it wouldn’t be the same or as big of a deal as turning 21 in America, but I’ve truly had a special week and … Continue reading Week 13!

Week 12!

It’s the end of another week and November is almost over already. Some of my classes are already wrapping up, with only a few more classes and tests. Some of my classes, such as my studio, don’t feel like they’re anywhere close to ending or that we are anywhere close to finishing. I’m trying to make the most of my free days and see what I can in Busan. It’s beginning to look like Christmas here with lights, Christmas trees, and other decorations everywhere. While my schedule has been kinda up and down and a little lighter recently, I’ve been … Continue reading Week 12!

Week 11!

So this past week really passed by in a blur! Just been getting homework done, going to classes, trying to get things done ahead of time. My mom will be here in two weeks! So excited to show her around Busan and see so many places together. I have about 40 days left here in Korea and I am sad about that, but I’m also incredibly ready to come home. I’m sure after sleeping on the couch a few days I’ll be missing my bunk bed in Busan, but I’m ready to be back in Texas. This experience has been … Continue reading Week 11!

Week 10!

I’m late! Sorry, sorry everyone! It’s been a really great week, busy with wrapping up midterms and presentations and things like that. So this past week I gave a presentation in my film class over “How to Marry a Millionaire”. It went really well and my professor said the conversations were great. We are now writing our midterm papers, an analysis over the movie “Get Out” I watched it once and was cringing the entire time. Don’t know how I’m gonna write an analysis when I can barely get through the movie. My studio class has been going well also. … Continue reading Week 10!

Week 9!

It’s the end of week 9 and it’s been a busy week here in Busan! We had midterms this week, threw in a day taking a coast side walk, and spent a night out with friends. This past week I had my korean speaking midterm, so I can officially introduce myself, say where I’m from, and say that I am a student in Korean! I’m still working on my pronunciation practices but my professor says I speak better than I did the first class, which I would certainly hope so! I also had an exam in my global issues class. … Continue reading Week 9!

Week 8! Halfway There!

Wrapping up week 8 and getting ready for midterms! My studio group has been having meetings it seems every other day, I’m constantly mumbling korean everywhere I go, and I’ve been downloading lots of movies. I’m going a little stir crazy here on campus, so today I spent the day browsing through 10 levels of shops at Lotte Mall after trying to study korean for a bit outside. In my studio we have been working on concept models and preliminary drawings for the development of an international market in the Jagalchi district. Our goal is to revitalize the area by … Continue reading Week 8! Halfway There!
