Week One!

Crazy to think that I’ve already been in South Korea for almost one whole week! This week has brought on a lot of walking (I love on a mountain), lots of different foods, and new people. We had an exchange student orientation yesterday and there I met some girls from Russia and Mexico here studying language through the International College. There are over 300 new exchange students here at Dongseo this semester from over 30 different countries! The largest groups seems to be from China and Japan, but there are people from Brazil, Finland, Canada, and the Philippines here as well.

On Tuesday we got the opportunity to meet with a professor from Dongseo’s Architecture department and a student ambassador for the department. They let us know that all the students in the year we are going into are very excited to meet us and get to know us. I’ve picked up they don’t get many exchange students through the architecture program, so to have some new faces is really exciting for the department. We will be working in studio groups this semester which will be an interesting twist to how Jonah and I have typically worked through semesters at Tech.

I’m hoping to soon explore more of Busan with the different people I have met! I’ve been looking at art museums to visit and I plan to soon go to the Fish Market here in Busan which is supposed to be one of the largest and oldest markets in South Korea.

Things are going well here and I will be registering for classes next week! Look for my next post sometime next week to see how that goes!

Thanks for all the support!

Love, Georgia

  1. Sounds like you are adjusting and making the most of it. Defiantly take the opportunity to explore some before classes begin.
